Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install Salesforce PR Reviewer?

Visit the GitHub Marketplace listing and click Install it for free (or Set up a plan for Pro). You can install it on all repositories in your organization, or select specific repositories. The reviewer will start automatically on your next pull request — no additional configuration is required.

Which events trigger a review?

A review is triggered when a pull request is:

  • Opened — new PR created
  • Synchronised — new commits pushed to an existing PR
  • Reopened — a closed PR is reopened

Reviews are only posted when Salesforce-specific files are detected in the diff (e.g., .cls, .trigger, .html in LWC folders, .flow-meta.xml). PRs with no Salesforce files are silently skipped.

What file types are reviewed?

The reviewer analyses the following file types when they appear in a PR diff:

  • Apex classes (.cls) and triggers (.trigger)
  • Lightning Web Components (.html, .js, .css in LWC paths)
  • Aura components (.cmp, .app, .evt)
  • Flows and Process Builder (.flow-meta.xml)
  • Visualforce pages and components (.page, .component)
  • Object definitions (.object-meta.xml, field metadata)
  • Permission sets and profiles (.permissionset-meta.xml, .profile-meta.xml)
How does the monthly review limit work?

Review limits are counted per GitHub organization or user account, not per repository or per seat. The count resets on the first day of each calendar month. When the limit is reached, the App will post a comment on the PR letting you know that the limit has been hit, along with a link to upgrade.

  • Free plan: 10 reviews per month
  • Pro plan: 50 reviews per month

A "review" is counted only when Salesforce files are detected in the PR. Events with no Salesforce files do not consume your limit.

Does uninstalling and reinstalling reset the review count?

No. Review counts are keyed to your GitHub account login, not the installation ID. Reinstalling the App generates a new installation ID but the same account login, so the count carries over. This prevents the limit from being gamed by cycling installations.

Multiple people are in our org. Is the limit shared or per-user?

The limit is shared across your entire GitHub organization. If your org has 10 active contributors all opening PRs, all reviews are counted against the same monthly quota. This is because billing is per organization, not per seat.

How does billing work? Can I cancel anytime?

Billing is handled entirely by GitHub Marketplace. We never see or store your payment card information. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time from your GitHub account settings under Billing → GitHub Marketplace.

When you cancel, your plan reverts to Free at the end of the current billing cycle. You will not be charged for the next month.

Is there a free trial for the Pro plan?

The Free plan gives you 10 reviews per month at no cost — use this to evaluate the quality before upgrading. There is no separate time-limited trial for the Pro plan, but you can upgrade and cancel at any time.

I opened a PR but no review comment appeared. What happened?

Common reasons a review is not posted:

  • No Salesforce files changed — the PR only modified non-Salesforce files (e.g., .md, .json).
  • Monthly limit reached — check if a limit-reached comment was posted instead.
  • Review already posted — the App is idempotent. If a review was already posted for the same commit SHA, it won't post again.
  • GitHub API rate limit — rare, but the App backs off and skips the review rather than fail noisily.
  • Large PR — PRs with more than ~20,000 tokens of Salesforce file content are skipped. Split large PRs into smaller batches.

If none of the above apply, please open a GitHub issue with your PR URL (public repos only) and we'll investigate.

Can I configure which rules to enable or disable?

Rule configuration is not supported in the current version. The reviewer analyses all categories (Apex, LWC, Flow, general) on every review. If there is strong demand for per-category configuration, we will consider it in a future release — please open a GitHub issue to upvote the feature.

Is my source code safe? Is it used to train AI models?

Your source code is transmitted to our AI processing partner's API for analysis and is never stored by our application. It is held in process memory only for the duration of the review (typically under 30 seconds), then discarded.

Our AI processing partner does not use API inputs to train its models by default. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Which AI model is used for reviews?

Pro plan reviews use a more powerful AI model, making it better suited for complex Apex and multi-file architectural analysis.
